50/50 Chance U.S. Gaming Ban Will Be Reversed
Submitted on Sun, 2006-10-22 15:48In a recent interview with The Guardian, PartyGaming's CEO Mitch Garber told the UK newspaper he believes there's a 50/50 chance that the recent U.S. legislation geared towards banning online gaming could be reversed within three years - should a power shift away from the Republican-controlled Congress occur in the upcoming U.S. elections.

Garber went on to predict a possible backlash from American players as a result of the ban, mentioning that some 10 million U.S. residents currently have PartyGaming's software downloaded on their computers.
Andy McIver, CEO of Sportingbet, another industry giant, also voiced his opinion which mirrored that of PartyGaming's Garber. PartyGaming lost 70% of poker revenues and 65% of online casino revenues following the passage of the Safe Port Act law last week.
