How to Play 21-Duel Blackjack
A new version of blackjack is garnering popularity. Known as 21 duel blackjack, in this game there are a few changes from your standard game of blackjack. To start, you must place an ante, then the dealer two cards to each player, one face down and the other face up; he then puts two communal cards facedown on the table. Your job is to select one of the two communal cards and create the best hand at or as near 21 as you can with the cards you have. It is another variation of blackjack to definitely try.

21 duel blackjack is very much like ordinary blackjack in that the object is still to beat the dealer. However, besides the use of the communal cards, there is also side betting in 21-duel. In order to do so you have to place an additional bet, which is equal to the ante bet.
The basic flow of the dealer's hands is the exact same as the player's in 21 duel blackjack. However, as in the standard online blackjack, the dealer must play according strict rules.
Playing the Game
To play the game, click on chips to select a value and click on the area marked ANTE to place a chip of that value. Your balance should include enough money to cover any additional bets the game may require you to place. You may place a side bet by clicking on the area marked 2UP. Once your bet is made, click DEAL. After this you have the option to either fold, or select one of the two communal cards to use with your face up card.
The card values are identical to standard blackjack: number cards count at face value, picture cards are worth 10 points, and Ace is worth 1 point or 11 points.
You can play your hand using the first communal card and doubling your initial wager, or you may play the hand with the second communal card, once again you will be doubling your initial wager. Your third option is to fold your hand and by doing so you will lose your initial wager, however if you are dealt a bad hand it may be worth saving your money.
Once you select your card, you can either hit or stand with that set. Unlike standard blackjack, in 21 duel blackjack you can only hit once.
How communal cards work in Blackjack Duel
This concept of communal cards means both the player and the dealer base their hands on the same two cards. 21-duel is played with six decks. The object is to have a point total higher than the dealer's, but no higher than 21. Unlike standard blackjack, however, all hands with a total of 21 are equal. The dealer chooses which card to use depending on specific rules (see sidebar). If you beat the dealer, you win!
This is a great game if you are looking to change up your standard blackjack game a bit. You can give it a shot at casino like Europa for free.
21 duel blackjack is the brainchild of software giant Playtech, provider of systems for online blackjack and a host of other casino games. The game can only be found in online casinos powered by them, but players should know that they do not allow US gamers to play at any of their sites.
