How Video Poker is Played

From these he or she decides which cards to keep and which ones to replace during the second card dealing. A player may also decline to change any cards should he or she be holding a ‘pat hand,' meaning a strong hand which doesn't warrant replacing any cards.

The objective in online video poker is to build as strong a 5-card hand as possible. Hands are ranked as those played in real poker rooms.

1. One Pair
2. Two Pair
3. Three-of-a-Kind
4. Straight
5. Flush
6. Full House
7. Four-of-a-Kind
8. Straight Flush
9. Royal Flush
10. Five-of-a-Kind (joker/wild card)

The hand-ranking stays the same in all games but some hand types may be removed in different video poker versions.
