United Kingdom Backs Online Gaming & Extraditing U.S. Execs

Submitted on Thu, 2006-11-02 15:19As Great Britain moves forward with its plans to legalize and regulate online gambling, jockeying for a leading position as a European gaming haven, according to government officials, the U.K. will extradite U.S. gaming executives if requested to do so by Americans.

British Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell continued her criticism of the US's position, stating that the U.K. does not support the American's policy claiming prohibition will only force the industry underground and into the hands of criminals the way prohibition of alcohol did in the 1920s did.

The United States outlawed Internet gambling in October with the new Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
