Frank: UIGEA one of the "stupidest laws" ever passed
US House Representative Barney Frank is said to be moving forward in his quest to free American gamers from the shackles of prohibition and into the promised land of legalized, taxed and regulated online gambling.
Frank is expected to introduce his online gaming bill on Thursday. According to Reuters, the proposed legislation is intended to end the ban on online gambling in the States.
Rumours began circulating last March regarding the possibility of a bill designed to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), which was legislated last September and signed into law by President Bush in October.
In a recent London Financial Times report, Frank confirmed the rumours, adding that the UIGEA is one of the "stupidest laws" ever passed and he's gearing up to have it abolished.
