Keno Therapy
Bored with playing the same online casino game? Well, how about giving Keno a try? After all, the rules are a no-brainer and you can commence playing (and pocketing cash) right away. That is, mind you, once you know how to play the game.
To play, Keno participants pick from 1 to 15, or 1 to 20, numbers. How many numbers a player may choose varies from casino to casino. Players then mark their number selections on their Keno ticket which features 80 numbers from 1 to 80. After that, the casino randomly draws 20 numbers. Winners are paid out against their original bet based on how many matching numbers he or she marked on their Keno ticket(s). It's really that simple.
Be advised, however, that unlike other online casino games, Keno provides casinos with a greater advantage over players in comparison to other casino games. On some wagers this can be as much as 65 percent. The typical house edge for an online casino game is generally between 1% and 5%. You may want to consider this before placing any bets.
The Great Wall of Keno
Keno is believed to have its origins rooted in China, somewhere between 205 & 187 BC (Before Casinos) in the days of the Han Dynasty over 2000 years ago. The game was originally developed as a means for the government to raise funds, much like the way in which today's governments provide lotteries to generate revenues.
Keno was actually created on the basis of a children's rhyming poem titled The Thousand Character Classic. The rhyme contained 1,000 characters which are never repeated. We repeat; never repeated. The poem was employed as a tool for teaching kids how to read and count to one thousand.
Around 200 BC, Cheung Leung - a Chinese army general - was faced with an economic and social crisis as the country's citizens were overtaxed and weary following years of war. The people were becoming increasingly hostile and liable to revolt had Cheung Leung attempted to raise taxes even further. He was also aware that additional funds were desperately required in order to ward off the growing threat coming from foreign forces hell-bent on toppling his country.
Building a massive wall to keep the enemies out was one option, but without the money to create it, the idea almost collapsed. That is until Leung came up with a game based on the first 120 characters of The Thousand Character Classic.
Digital Doves
To participate in this ancient form of "voluntary taxation," players first had to select a set of characters. Then random characters would be picked to form a winning combination. Contestants possessing the winning combination, or part thereof, would win. For anxious players living far from where the numbers were being drawn, doves were used to deliver the results. The game later became known as the White Pigeon Game. New cash suddenly began to flow in and without the need to increase taxes, Leung‘s army was revitalized, the Great Wall of China was constructed, and the Han Dynasty was spared from being destroyed. And all thanks to Keno.
So now you know all about the Great Game of Keno - just one of the many thrilling online casino games for you to play... and win! Now don't you feel better?
