Online Gambling Proponents & Opponents at Odds

However, these same countries, such as France, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Holland, and Sweden are still going about operating their own casinos and state lotteries.

Even the United States' crackdown is widely believed to be political in nature, and not at all about protecting their citizens from the sins of gambling.
With specific reference to the French police's arrest of two Austrian online gaming executives last September, the European Betting Association's Secretary General Didier Dewyn called such moves "witch hunts," depriving the detained men of one of the EU's most basic rights; to travel freely within the union.
