PartyGaming dealing with U.S. gambling authorities
PartyGaming, the UK-based Internet poker and casino giant, disclosed yesterday that it is holding discussions with the United States Department of Justice concerning possible legal action against the publicly traded group's US subsidiary. Industry experts and the gambling public at large are anxiously anticipating a number of collaborative deals between PartyGaming and the DOJ.

According to a Partygaming spokesperson, the company had begun talks with the United States Attorney's office for New York's Southern District and was currently replying voluntarily to the State Attorney's requests for additional information.
Industry pundits are suggesting the U.S. Attorney's office is indicating a readiness to settle and clarify the DOJ's position ever since the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was enforced last fall, effectively banning payments to and from online gambling operations.
Online gaming firms are closely monitoring US Democratic Congressman Barney Frank's bill calling for easing the gaming ban by permitting licensed operators to provide online gambling services in the States.
