Betonsports exec enters not guilty plea
According to a recent Reuters report, Betonsports.com's founder, Gary Stephen Kaplan, appeared in a US District Court this week and entered a not guilty plea on racketeering, conspiracy and fraud charges stemming from the company's Costa Rican-based online gambling business.

Kaplan was arrested in Dominica last month on a number of suspected US crimes and extradited back to the States. The F.B.I. had been hot on his trail for approximately 8 months after the arrest of David Carruthers, Betonsports' chief executive. Ten other company officials were also arrested. Carruthers is a British citizen and remains under house arrest in St. Louis awaiting trial on similar charges, which he's strongly denying.
The company had traded on the London Stock Exchange until the US Department of Justice brought it down in August 2006, forcing the closure of its US operation which accounted for around 95% of the firm's profits. Betonsports is expected to enter into liquidation.
