Internet Casino Poll: Gambling in US Will Be Legal
Online gamers visiting the web site were asked to give their thoughts on when they believe the U.S. Congress will, if ever, amend the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The UIGEA, signed into law by President George Bush last October, prohibits American financial institutions including banks and credit card firms from facilitating transactions from would-be players to various online gambling organizations and vice versa.
According the poll's results, 42% of participants believe that by 2007's end, Internet wagering games shall be reinstated in the US. Approximately 25% of voters are not so convinced the online betting law will be amended, 13% think the ban will end by 2008, 9% said everything will be void by 2009, and 11% say the UIGEA's funeral will take place in 2010.
