UIGEA Time-line
In September 2006, the US Congress voted for the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) effectively prohibiting banks & credit card companies form transferring funds to and from online gambling casino sites, poker rooms, bingo sites, and other Internet-based gambling establishments. The UIGEA (slipped in with the Safe Ports Act) was signed in to law by President George Bush on October 13, 2006 and, in the aftermath of the speedy legislation, numerous events have since rocked the annual $12 billion-dollar online gambling industry.
