The "Act" is designed to block US financial institutions from facilitating financial transactions to and from gambling related websites.
A number of online casinos, either of their own accords or at the insistence of their gaming software licensors, have ceased accepting wagers from US residents. Despite the law, some are continuing to accept all US players and others are blocking or restricting bets from certain states such as Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, and Wisconsin.
