How Video Poker is Played

Video poker differs from traditional poker in that players do not compete against other players. Instead they play solely against the dealer, or 'the house.' Each player is dealt five cards. From these he or she decides which cards to keep and which ones to replace during the second card dealing. A player may also decline to change any cards should he or she be holding a ‘pat hand,' meaning a strong hand which doesn't warrant replacing any cards.

The objective in video poker is to build as strong a 5-card hand as possible. Hands are ranked as those played in real poker rooms.

4. Straight
5. Flush
6. Full House
7. Four-of-a-Kind
